I absolutely think Springy Afro Twist crochet hair is worth trying if you want a full, natural-looking protective style that blends well with 4C hair. For my installs, I use a little less than 3 packs of Springy Afro Twist crochet hair. My Braid Pattern for Springy Afro Twist Crochet Hair
For my Springy Afro Twist crochet hair install, I kept the braid pattern simple with about 8 braids going straight to the back, plus a small connecting braid formation where I wanted my part to fall. I used minimal leave-out around the part and front area so the style would look more natural, but still kept most of my 4C hair tucked away and protected. To protect my edges, I kept the front loose, avoided tight braiding, and added a little lightweight oil around my hairline before installing the crochet hair. One thing I loved about this crochet hairstyle is that it was very low tension and beginner-friendly. How to Make Crochet Hair Look Natural
The biggest thing that made my Springy Afro Twist crochet hair look natural was the minimal leave-out around my part and front area. Since the part of the style is actually my real 4C hair, it helped the crochet blend better and made the style look more like it was growing from my scalp instead of sitting on top of my head. I kept the leave-out small so most of my hair was still protected, but just enough was out to create a natural-looking part and soften the front. When installing the crochet hair, I made sure not to overpack the front because too much hair near the part can make the style look bulky. I also spaced the crochet pieces carefully, used smaller pieces near the hairline, and fluffed and shaped the hair after installing so it framed my face naturally. For me, the key was using my real hair to create the part, keeping the front light, and avoiding too much tension around my edges.

I’m a little tender-headed, so one of the reasons I liked this Springy Afro Twist crochet hairstyle is because it can be installed in a low-tension way. Once the crochet hair is in, I honestly do not really feel the style sitting on my head, which is a big deal for me. The only time I usually feel any tension is on the first day when my natural hair is braided down, so I like to let my cornrows settle before adding the crochet hair. That makes the install feel a lot more comfortable.
This is also why I tend to prefer crochet styles over styles like sew-ins. With sew-ins, I can feel like something is sitting on my head, and not being able to easily get to my scalp can drive me crazy.
